I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's
1940 Treasury Mr. Gent's letter of the 13th September, (54023/1/40) on the subject of an offer on behalf of the Colony of Hong Kong, to make a free gift to His Majesty's Government for the period of the war of a sum of £200,000 sterling per annum from the profits of the Hong Kong Exchange Fund as from the 1st January 1940, or alternatively of the net annual increment from that Fund whichever is the lesser figure.
